A folding white cane that is typically used by individuals who are blind or have poor vision. Great way to alert others to clear a path but can also be used to essentially feel your environment through the stick to guide one’s walking.
Advantages
- allows great independence with mobility for those that have little to no vision
- alerts those around you that you have a disability and need additional time / assistance in using crosswalks, passing through doors, getting on/off buses, etc
Disadvantages
- not everyone is respectful of the challenges faced by individuals with vision impairments
