Scissors that are secured onto a base that allows a user with one hand to cut paper or another thin object. The base holds the scissors upright and the item that will be cut while the user can push down on a large handle to slice something in half.
Advantages
- greater independence with cutting objects or opening thin packages
- large handle let’s user with poor fine motor abilities to effectively cut something
Disadvantages
- the base does not hold the object in place so cuts may not be straight or 100 percent accurate as shifting can occur
