Scissors that have a spring in them which causes them to open after each cut. In essence you do not have to reset the scissors in an open position as it does it on its own. This is great for people with decreased endurance or arthritis.
Advantages
- Greater ease with cutting as one only now needs to perform half the tasks associated with cutting ie. the resetting the scissors to an open position is done automatically by the spring
- lack of finger holes allows one to utilize their full hand to support cutting and this makes it easier for those with decreased finger control or weakness
Disadvantages
- may take some time to get used to using as there are no finger holes
- may not have equivalent accuracy to scissors with finger holes as one typically has less control over the cutting path
